THE show will go on after extreme weather brought the county to a standstill.

Dorset Police Male Voice Choir had been due to perform in Bridport for the first time earlier this month, but the event was postponed after heavy snow made conditions hazardous.

A new date has been set for the spectacular show, which will feature the choir alongside talented local musicians and raise funds for a host of local charities.

The choir will perform at the United Church on East Street on April 21.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Bridport, the event will see soloists Kerren McAlister and John Follett perform alongside the choir, directed by Dr Jane Oakland.

Jane has worked as a professional opera singer for more than 35 years, performing in the UK and across Europe. She is now a well-established researcher in psychology and the performing arts.

John has toured the UK extensively and has been a member of Bridport Big Band. The two singers are delighted to be joining the police choir on stage.

Kerren started performing at an early age, appearing in Aladdin as a member of the Bridport Pantomime Players when she was just four years old. Since then, she has played leading roles for the Bridport Operatic Society and worked as a dancer and choreographer in various musicals. In 2015, she was chosen to sing in the world premier of Matthew Coleridge's Requiem.

Both will be accompanied by pianist Theresa Follett.

The choir has performed across the county and much further afield, appearing in other parts of the UK, Ireland, France, Guernsey and America, but it will be the first time they have played in Bridport.

The concert is being held in aid of Rotary charities.

Tickets purchased ahead of the postponed performance remain valid for next month's concert.

Doors will open at 7pm and the concert will start at 7.30pm. Tickets are still available from Bridport Tourist Office at a cost of £10.50.
