A LYME Regis business has re-opened under new management.

Lyme Convenience Stores, formerly known as Staples Stores, on Staples Terrace, closed last year but has since been bought by businessman Taz Sri.

Taz, and his partner Ireen, moved to the area from London with their two young children after visiting many times on holiday.

Taz, originally from Sri Lanka, says he chose to move because he wants to live a quiet life away from London and its pollution.

He wants his children to have an upbringing similar to his in Sri Lanka, where he was near the sea and had nice outdoor space.

Taz said: "I read in the paper this shop has been closed and lots of residents were disappointed. All the big supermarkets has made it impossible for a small business to survive and I wanted to change that and give the community a place to catch-up with other people. We are looking forward to being a part of the community and we want to welcome everyone to our shop and thank everyone for accepting us in this community. It is a great place to be."

With community in mind, Taz says the convenience store will stock produce from local suppliers; fresh fruit and veg will come from Cains Farm, dairy from Bruton Dairy and fresh bread from Charmouth Bakery.
