COULD you stop people littering Dorset’s beautiful coastline?

Artists are wanted for a high-profile projects working on one of Dorset Coastal Connections’ initiatives. The scheme seeks ideas for how to change people’s behaviour and stop them littering our lovely beaches. It pays an artist fee of £7,000, plus a materials budget of £2,000.

The project recognises the importance of the artists, who will have a creative input from the beginning. They will be working as part of a cross-disciplinary team.

The anti-litter project is being led by Litter Free Coast and Sea working with the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Food and Drink programme.

It focuses on Bournemouth, Weymouth, West Bay and Lyme Regis.

A spokesman said: “Litter Free Coast and Sea aims to reduce marine and beach litter, and improve bathing water quality along the Dorset coast.

“We have some of the cleanest beaches and best bathing water quality in the country. Litter Free Coast and Sea would like to help keep it that way and make our beaches even better. Can you help? Both these projects are part of the wider Dorset Coastal Connections portfolio of 18 projects funded by the Coastal Community Fund and coordinated by the Dorset Coast Forum, who are working collaboratively with The Arts Development Company and the individual project teams.”

The deadline for Litter Free Dorset is January 19.
