A SCHOOL catering company has been dishing up some Christmas cheer.

Local Food Links (LFL) has been providing hot school meals in Dorset for more than 10 years and recently launched a festive competition.

School children were asked to design their own Christmas card and chief executive of LFL, Caroline Morgan was delighted with the response - with an array of designs coming in, from the tradition to the wild and wonderful.

Fantastic and creative entries were received from schools across west and north Dorset.

Five-year-old Felix Morris from St Michael’s Primary in Lyme Regis was selected as KS1 winner for his super ‘Santa eating Christmas Dinner’ design.

Jacob Evis, eight, from Archbishop Wake Primary in Blandford Forum was selected as the KS2 winner for his ‘Berry Christmas’ design.

Both children were awarded their prizes and a £20 giftcard for their hard work.

Ms Morgan said: “Giving Felix and Jacob their Christmas cards and prizes was the highlight of my week but choosing the winners was tremendously hard, there were so many fantastic designs.”

LFL began as soup and a roll and a slice of cake one day a week at Bridport Primary School has grown into a social enterprise supplying thousands of hot school meals every day to more than 30 schools across Dorset.

78 per cent of ingredients are purchased from Dorset suppliers, 95 per cent from south west suppliers.
