THERE have been several reports in the newspapers and in Parliament concerning cyclists clothing. Having been a cyclist for many years I can understand the freedom felt when not wearing a helmet however, most wear dark clothing which this time of year means they can not be seen until drivers are very close to them.

Florescent jacket should be made mandatory

Another problem, this time by the club cyclists in the dark, is their very bright head lights usually on their heads, so bright that on coming car drivers can not be sure of it being a cyclist, a car with one light or a tractor.

Please consider your own safety as well as car drivers reactions.
