OBSERVERS have been treated to spectacular scenes in the skies above Dorset this autumn as the sun sets.

Last Friday in particular the skies were ablaze with colour for a stunning sunset.

Fortunately, Bridport News readers were ready with their camera to capture the fiery skies.

Helen Roberts, a meteorologist from the Met Office said sunsets can be particularly colourful in the lead up to winter.

She added: “We do often get good sunsets at this time of the year.

“There are a few different reasons why.

“It is a combination of the angle of the sun, the cloud type, the amount of cloud, as well as the particles high up in the troposphere."

If you're out and about in west Dorset with your camera we'd love to see your pictures. Send them to news@bridportnews.co.uk upload them via bridportnews.co.uk or send via or Facebook and Twitter pages.
