THE team at Bridport Tourist Information Centre is 'delighted' to be shortlisted as one of the finalists in the Dorset Tourism Awards.

The have been chosen in the Visitor Information Service of the Year category of the 2017 awards.

This year’s awards have seen a 15 per cent increase in entries and an ever-closer competition between leading providers across Dorset tourism’s industry. Entrants went through a three-stage judging process, taking in to account websites, reviews, social media and a mystery visit by judges.

The awards assessment was undertaken since the TIC’s transfer to Bridport Town Council management on January 1, 2017.

The team will find out whether they have scooped first place at an awards ceremony at the Lighthouse, Poole, on November 16.

Cllr Sarah Williams, leader of the town council, said: “Congratulations to all the team at the TIC on being shortlisted for this prestigious award The town council took over the management of the TIC at the start of 2017 and this nomination is a fitting and much deserved recognition of all their hard work this year.”
