Even the sun had his hat on as hundreds of people turned out for one of Dorset’s most popular festivals.

Bridport enjoyed one of its ‘best ever’ Hat Festivals as the sun shone for the annual mass hatted photo and a whole host of other hat-tastic events.

Mayor of Bridport Cllr Anne Rickard said: “I think it was one of the best we’ve ever had. I’m always impressed by how much work goes into this event and so many people from the town, as well as visitors, come along and enjoy themselves. It really brings the whole community together.”

Flowers, television shows, animals and even Donald Trump were the inspiration for just some of this year’s imaginative creations.

Cllr Rickard added: “This event took off from day one and eight years on the humour, the music, the talent behind it all is just incredible. Hats off – quite literally – to Roger Snook for starting it all off.”

The mayor revealed she looked close to home for her own hat’s inspiration.

“It’s a small top hat, and gold coloured, so it’s my own Golden Cap.”
