A COUNTYSIDE show will boast “stacks of fun” when it returns for the 55th year next month.

The Cattistock Countryside Show will be held near Chilfrome on Sunday, August 6, from 9am until 5pm. Organisers are adding new elements to this year’s event, including vintage tractors, classic cars, skittles, traditional games, a plant stall and welly wanging. There will also be local arts and crafts on sale, clothing trade stands and live entertainment.

The show is also expanding to feature a number of new agricultural activities including a deer management stand, sheep shearing, a sawmill and farrier demonstration.

Alison Wright, Cattistock Countryside Show event organiser, said: “We extremely excited about the show this year and are very hopeful that it will be our best show yet.

“We have more trade stands booked and more sponsors than ever before, for which we are extremely grateful. The show is always full of rural character, not too big to get lost at, but we have stacks of fun for all to enjoy.

“We hope that many people will come out to support us again this year and help celebrate what this part of rural Dorset has to offer.”

A number of new dog show classes will be introduced this year, including countryside companion and dog agility competitions. The dog show will also include a Buckham Fair championship qualifier and best rescue and rehomed classes, with money raised being donated to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Also on offer at this year’s event will be a horse show, flower and produce show, show jumping, gate jumping, archery, hound parades, fly casting, laser clay shooting, locally produced food and drinks, chicken sale, children’s entertainment, donkey rides, alpacas and a pets corner.

The Cattistock Countryside Show is supported by Saffery & Champness Chartered Accountants, Kitson & Trotman Solicitors, Symonds & Sampson, NFU Mutual, Boden, Battens, Isuzu, Countrywide Stores, Ridemore Equestrian, Groves Nursery and Garden Centre, Dorwest, Lily’s Kitchen, K9 Dog Training and Sportarm, Skinner’s.
