FOR Bridport teenager Aiden Cooper life's a walk in the park - or it will be this weekend.

That's because it's the 15-year-old's organised his second fundraising event on Allington Hill.

Last year Aiden’s Amble was so popular and so successful he raised more than £700 and impressed members of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team they agreed to match funded his project to provide family woodland activity events.

The money Aiden helped to raise with his amble helped the Allington Hillbillies to out on six events on the hill providing 40 free places at each event.

The events were managed by Dan Ashby from Magdalen Farm Trust who arranged an array of activities for all age groups.

Allington Hiullbillies chairman Catherine Harvey said: “ We plan to hold at least another six over the next twelve months.

"We would recommend that families register their interest now by sending their details via email to allingtonhill@gmail.com

"The last three events were heavily over subscribed and we had to turn families away. It costs £5 to sponsor a free place.

"Please help Aiden raise his target of £500 towards the next events over the coming year.

"We aim to provide families with at least one free session and subsidise places at further events.

"We wish to provide free places so there is no barrier to families attending that are on a low income.

"These are the families we hope to reach, to give them the confidence to play in a woodland environment and get up close to nature."

Aiden has set up a “Just Giving” page at justgiving.com/crowdfunding/aidens-amble-allington-hillbillies

Aiden's Amble is on Allington Hill on Sunday July 30 from 2pm.

Mrs Harvey added: "A minimum £2 donation is required to take part in the event which is suitable for young and old. Although the children like to race many prefer to walk the route. Turn up early, bring a picnic and enjoy the other activities on offer.”

Aiden says because his own family spends so much time on the hill he wants to encourage more families to enjoy it.

His original aim was to raise £200 to pay for a box of outdoor play equipment for families to borrow or if he raised more to fund children's activity days.

Mrs Harvey said the first children's activities days on the hill were funded by the Lottery funding and proved very popular with youngsters.

She added: "It is nice that we have inspired children and they still want to be involved in activities which was our main aim so it was wonderful that Aiden raised enough to offer more days."
