IF you have something to say why not shout about it?

That's just what supporters of Bridport's Youth and Community Centre have done - with the help of town crier John Collingwood.

He attracted a small crowd when he drew the Youth and Community Centre raffle last week in the centre of Bridport.

Tickets have been on sale for to months raising £2,000.

Supporter Margie Barbour said: "The community had responded well to the opportunity to buy tickets and support the youth centre.

"First prize, donated by Renford Studios, was a fabulous photograph of Broadchurch, the East Cliff taken from the harbour at West Bay. It was made more special as it was signed by David Tennant and Olivia Colman, aka DI Hardy and DI Miller.

"The winning ticket had been bought by Tristan Allsop."

Mr Allsop said, when he heard that he had won first prize: “As a keen supporter of the youth centre, I believe it is crucial for young people to continue to have a place in Bridport dedicated to them and their interests. I have been a Broadchurch devotee since the first series, and it’s a marvellous photo of a view I have always loved.”

John Collingwood drew the other winning tickets and more than 20 people won the prizes that had been donated by businesses in Bridport.

There were meals at The Bull, Olive Tree and Pickled Ginger, vouchers from Framptons, Footeprints and Autobitz, and gift packs from the Arts and Crafts Shop, the East Street Chemist, Lloyds and the Post Office. Actual gifts were donated by Fruits of the Earth, a fruit basket from Bridgets, a rug from Carpet World, candle holders from Blue Lawn, bags from Steptoes, as well as piano lessons and a blow dry from Chantelle hairdressers, and a family ticket to a show at Bridport Arts Centre.

Ros Kayes, the Chairman of the Youth and Community Centre Board said: “We are so pleased that we had been so generously supported by the community, both by the businesses who awarded the prizes and the people of Bridport who bought the raffle tickets. The board are grateful to the town and are pleased that the youth centre is seen an integral part of this town.”
