A man has died after a serious collision. 

The 29-year-old man was hit by a car whilst walking along a road heading from Lyme Regis to Rousdon. 

He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car, a green BMW 323, was being driven by a 42-year-old male, when the collision happened on the A3052 at Ware Cross shortly before 2:30am this morning.

The road conditions are described by police to have been 'dry and unlit' at the time of the collision. 

Clappentail Lane was closed both ways for several hours whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.

The man's next of kin have been informed. 

Police units from Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police were at the scene, and a specialist forensic investigation has taken place.

They are particularly keen to trace the driver of a small van which was believed to have been in the area at the time of the collision.
