FRESH plans for a day centre for people with disabilities are set to go on display.

Members of the public are invited to view the proposals for the new Bridport Connect Building on Wednesday, May 17, from 2pm to 7pm at the Fisherman's Arms Centre.

The event will be hosted by Dorset County Council and will offer residents and members of the public an opportunity to view the proposals for the new Bridport Connect building and gain an understanding of what is trying to be achieved at the site.

As plans have moved on, the views of Bridport residents have been taken into account and the new Connect Building will both replace the current facilities offered at the Fisherman’s Arms Centre and add to them, which will include day care for people with learning disabilities, mental health issues, physical disabilities and older people. Pans also include conference facilities, offices and a cafe.

Roger Ball, senior project manager at Dorset County Council said: “This exciting new building aims to create a central place for the local community by bringing together a range of facilities in one location.

“Bridport has waited a long time for this development. The current provision is no longer able to effectively meet some of the needs of the community.

“We look forward to welcoming residents to the information event on Wednesday to be able to talk about the proposals for the new facilities and answer any questions people may have.”
