A YOUTH charity is gearing up for its annual feast of music later this month.

Lyme Regis-based music charity, B Sharp, has teamed up with organisers of the town's Jazz and Blues Festival as the Busking Festival returns to the seaside.

The Busking Festival is seen as an opportunity for musicians to come and play in unusual and picturesque locations.

Festival organiser Diane Earle, said: "It's time to come and make some noise together.

"Every year our festival brings fantastic surprises - buskers new and buskers old come from far and wide to play with us - pirates to a 90-year-old pianist, sax quintets, choirs to a five-year-old singer. There’s something for everyone."

This year, the charity is also offering a master class jam special with the popular and charismatic local dance band, Mr Jèan, followed by a small performance and gathering. Advanced booking is strongly advised.

Fran Williams, creative director of B Sharp, said: "With your support, B Sharp can help more young people to take part in life changing musical experiences towards building a sound future.

"Look out for the B Sharp buckets by each of the buskers, and if you like what you hear, please do donate."

Busking will take place around Lyme Regis on Saturday, May 27 from 11am until 6pm, as well as the 'play me' piano and open mic session at the Jubilee Pavilion on Marine Parade.

A 'play me' drums session will be held at Gun Cliff, by the cannon, from 2pm until 4pm. The Mr Jèan masterclass will take place at the Pilot Boat from 6pm until 9pm.

Marcus Dixon, managing director for B Sharp, said: "Our busking festival is a real live experience for young people, enabling them to gain a broad spectrum of skills, confidence and experience while showcasing their creativity in music making and performance.

"It’s this creativity and confidence that’s profoundly important in shaping the future for young people, as students, employees, digital artisans and entrepreneurs in a world that’s being rapidly transformed by exponential innovation and digital technology. We hope to see you there."

Booking in advance is advised to secure a preferred time and place. To take part in the busking festival, email buskingfestival@bsharp.org.uk or to get involved in developing B Sharp, email marcusdixon@bsharp.org.uk
