WINDS of up to 60 miles per hour could be set to hit Dorset as Storm Doris blows in.

The Met Office has now issued a weather warning for the county and the South West.

It is predicting winds between 50 to 60mph for the area on Thursday.

A developing area of low pressure will move across the UK, with the Met Office now saying that this will be Storm Doris.

Yellow and amber warnings for wind have been issued for other parts of the country, with gusts predicted to hit 80mph.

Other areas could see heavy snow and rain with warnings also in place for these.

The winds will hit the county just as residents have welcomed warm, sunny weather over the weekend and had them looking forward to spring.

Thursday will see a return of the wintery showers with it predicted to be wet and windy in the area.

The weekend is also predicted to be wet and windy with temperatures falling back to single figures.

The weather warning has been issued from 6am to 8pm.
