POLICE are urging residents in west Dorset to be aware following reports of a 'suspicious male'.

The man was seen in Corscombe at around 2pm on Friday, with the Bridport, Beaminster and Lyme Regis Neighbourhood Policing Team stating he was said to be "taking a lot of interest in properties as he walked through the village".

The male is described as being in his early 30s, around five feet four inches tall, with short dark hair and was wearing a bobble hat and blue jeans.

A police spokesman said: "Police are asking that residents keep an eye on their elderly or disabled neighbours who are deemed most vulnerable and to report any suspicious activity to the police on the non-emergency number 101 or in case of an emergency 999.

"If you have any further information that may identify this male then please call the police and quote occurrence number 55170010200."
