After an unseasonably warm weekend, temperatures are set to drop to below freezing again this week, with snow possible for much of the country from Thursday onwards.

Forecasters agree that from Wednesday temperatures are going to plunge again, with lows of -3 or -4, but they (surprisingly) don't agree about the chance of snow over the county.

The Met Office says 'confidence is low in details' as far as the forecast for the week ahead is concerned.

Met Office forecasters say Tuesday will see rsunshine and clouds with conditions turning breezy on Wednesday.  It'll then turn colder on Thursday, with heavy rain forecast for Weymouth between 9am and 3pm.

The Met Office has now issued yellow weather warnings of snow for much of the country on Thursday and into Friday, including the South West, however it only covers Cornwall, Somerset and Devon.

At this stage, there is no snow in the forecast for Weymouth.  Our own weather forecast predicts rain for Thursday with sunny spells on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The BBC reckons there will be rain in North Dorset and dry conditions elsewhere on Thursday but clear and cold at the weekend.

While the Weather Channel predicts showers across Dorset on Thursday and dry conditions over the weekend.

So don't get the sledge out just yet - but maybe check you know where it is. Just in case.
