A CYCLIST has sustained a head injury after she collided with a car in Bridport.

West Bay Road in Bridport was closed at the Crown Roundabout while emergency services dealt with the incident.

It is now believed the road has been reopened.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “We were called at 2.52pm to reports of a collision between a car, a black Vauxhall Corsa, registered to a woman from Middlesex, and a female cyclist.

"It was initially thought a pedestrian was involved, but it has now become clear that it was a cyclist.

“The cyclist was taken to Dorset County Hospital by the ambulance service as a precaution, after suffering a minor injury.”

A spokesman from South Western Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to West Bay Road at 2.44pm to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

"A 60-year-old woman was bleeding from the head and was taken to Dorset County Hospital."
