A VIDEO shows the terrifying moment a biker narrowly escapes a head–on crash with a car overtaking on a blind bend.

Eighteen–year–old Finn Hansford was riding along the coast road when he turned a corner to find a 4x4 vehicle on his side of the road. Finn was able to swerve at the last minute, avoiding a serious crash by a matter of inches.

He has shared the video as a warning to other drivers and riders about the dangers of overtaking on this type of road. (See below)

For Finn, from Bridport, it was just a routine trip to the shop. But he says his instinct to quickly swerve saved him from a serious injury, or worse.

He said: “I was coming back from Waitrose and once I got out of Burton Bradstock and on to the coast road I met the car.

“The speed limit went from 40mph to 50mph coming out of Burton and on to the coast road so I was starting to pick up speed but not a great amount as I’m only on a 125cc bike.

“As I met the car I panicked and got right on to the side of the road to hopefully avoid it as I was in so much panic.

“At the time it took me a few seconds to register what just happened and that’s when I beeped my horn.”

Finn added that he filmed the video when Melplash Show was taking place, so it was very busy around Bridport.

Footage from cameras mounted on the front of vehicles has become increasingly common, with more and more people recording journeys for insurance reasons.

Finn said that he didn’t report the incident to police as he didn’t catch the vehicle's number plate.

Earlier this year, footage was released showing the moment a young driver narrowly avoided a serious crash in Weymouth after a car pulled across three lanes of traffic right in front of him.

On this occasion the car indicated to merge left at the Jurassic roundabout coming toward Weymouth but instead did an illegal U-turn pulling across three lanes of traffic and narrowly avoiding oncoming cars.
