At AS Level, 39 per cent of Woodroffe students achieved As or Bs, with 61 per cent achieving grade C or above.

Dr Richard Steward, head teacher of The Woodroffe School, said: “I am always impressed by the resilience of our students who year on year manage to navigate the complexities of A Level study in order to attain outstanding results.

“I am delighted to see so many individuals achieving A* and A grades. It is also pleasing to note the consistency in results across all subject areas.

“Once again, students will be leaving Woodroffe to take up laces at many of the best universities in the country and I am pleased to say that the majority of students met their target grades and secured university places.”

Hanna Bramley, Eleanor Ohlsen and Rory Townsend all achieved an A* and two A grades at A-Level. Ewan Pedder achieved an A*, an A and a B grade, Dylan Young was awarded an A* and an A and Jessica Jordan received four A grades.

Eleanor said: “I am very pleased. I will be taking a gap year as I don’t know what I want to do yet.”

Rory said: “I am really happy. It is like a weight lifted off of my shoulders and I can relax a bit now.”

Dr Steward praised school staff for helping pupils through "very turbulent" exams following changes to syllabuses and new assessment rules.

He said: “With constant changes to examination specifications and accountability measures, this has been a difficult year for sixth forms and sixth formers.

“It is a tribute to the professionalism and expertise of staff at Woodroffe that the students have been guided so successfully through very turbulent waters.”
