FAMOUS faces will once again be mingling with the residents of a seaside town as filming gets underway for Broadchurch.

It is understood that shooting for Series 3 in West Bay is taking place this week.

And eagle-eyed fans should keep their eyes peeled, as although an ITV spokesman said that cast were not in town yesterday, they will be filming throughout July in West Bay and Bridport.

It is understood that filming will then recommence in Clevedon, Somerset, in August.

Social media has gone in to overdrive since filming began.

Images of the iconic East Cliff have once again been shared around the world.

As well as favourites David Tennant and Olivia Colman, who will be reprising their roles as DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller, new cast members for this third and final series include Lenny Henry, Ex-Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh and comedian Roy Hudd.

But away from the stunning backdrop and star-studded line up, Broadchurch 3 will follow its predecessors in dealing with some serious issues.

The focus of the series will be a serious sexual assault and The Shores (Dorset’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre) and Dorset Rape Crisis have supported and advised West Dorset’s Chris Chibnall throughout writing the scripts for this series of Broadchurch.

Speaking ahead of filming for the new series, Mr Chibnall said: “This is the final chapter of Broadchurch. We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters. I hope it’s a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and show that means so much to me.”

Jane Featherstone, executive producer, said: “We will return to the town and characters we know so well as they find themselves caught up in a new and compelling story which will test the strength of the community and the people who live there, and will, I hope, be a fitting end to this trilogy.”

The series has been given a renewed boost after both one and two were uploaded to streaming site Netflix.

It will return to our screens in early 2017.
