THE rain failed to dampen any spirits or ruin the party at Race for Life turned Dorchester pink.
Cancer Research UK's annual event, where races take place around the country, held its West Dorset event at Kingston Maurward House.
And despite the rain falling as races headed to the start line and again as many finished, there was no signs of anyone's heads dropping.
Racers gathered near the as Lou Sam's Zumba Heat got them all warmed up and ready to race before they headed off to the start.
The runners were at the front followed by the joggers and the walkers.
As the rain fell, a last warm-up came in the form of a Mexican wave as the runners got ready.
Before they set off, a minute's silence was held as everyone reflected on why they were running the race.
Then, following a final countdown they were off with women and children taking on the 5km course.
All sorts of people were running, with some accompanied by dogs and some even taking part with a baby on their back.
They were cheered round the whole way by loved ones and spectators as the Cancer Research UK ensured there was a real party atmosphere.
The first runner back was Alice Adams, 14, from Weymouth who finished in just over 22 minutes.
