A MOTORBIKER remains in a life-threatening condition following a crash - as police renew their appeal for witnesses.

Dorset Police are urging the public to come forward with information following the very serious crash which happened on Sunday afternoon near Beaminster.

Officers said that a light blue and multi-coloured Suzuki motorcycle, being ridden by a 35-year-old man from Crewkerne, was in collision with a blue Volkswagen Polo being driven by a 54-year-old woman from France. The crash happened at 2.30pm on the A3066 at Whetley Cross.

Officers said the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment. He remains in a life-threatening condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The driver of the Polo sustained a minor injury to her hand. Her front seat passenger – a 56-year-old man also from France – was uninjured.

The road was closed for several hours while paramedics and fire crews from Beaminster and Crewkerne worked and police crash investigators conducted an investigation.

Police Constable Tim Gooding, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or the driving of either vehicle prior to the incident to please call me on 101.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw three blue motorcycles which were travelling from West Bay toward Beaminster around the time of the collision.”
