FIREFIGHTERS were called back to a cinema that burnt down last week after asbestos material was blown across a town centre.
A crew from Lyme Regis was called to the Regent Cinema yesterday (28) after strong winds from Storm Katie sent material flying across Broad Street.
A spokeswoman from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, said: "A crew from Lyme Regis was called to the Regent Cinema yesterday at 11.15am.
"During the storm over the weekend, some asbestos debris from the cinema had blown into Broad Street. The crew used hazardous material equipment to bag up the debris and washed down the street with a hose.
"The building inspector and environmental heath were also called. The crew returned to the station at 2.40pm."
It was also reported that the rear wall of the cinema, which had remained standing following the fire, had collapsed following the wild weather over the Easter weekend.
