A HAND grenade washed up on a West Dorset beach yesterday, before being taken back out to sea again by the tide.
Police were called to the beach at Black Ven, near Charmouth yesterday afternoon (Saturday) to reports of a grenade washing up.
A police spokesman said that the Explosive Ordanance Disposal team were called but the grenade was taken back out to sea by the high tide.
The spokesman said that if it washes up on the beach again and it can be safely disposed of, a further attempt will be made to dispose of it.
