THE coastguard helicopter was called to rescue two men stuck on cliffs in West Dorset.

The two men had to be lifted to safety after they got stuck on cliffs between Lyme Regis and Charmouth on Saturday afternoon.

Coastguard teams from Lyme Regis rushed to their aid but the cliff rescue team deemed the area too unsafe to operate so called in the helicopter for assistance.

Once the helicopter arrived from Portland Bill it airlifted the two men to safety.

A team from Lyme Regis RNLI was also required on Friday when a small fishing boat broke down four miles from the harbour.

Two people were found safe and well on the boat before the coastguard towed the boat back in.
