Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg? is an independent British film shot locally including at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park.

It is billed as a "a return to British family viewing where kids are the stars as well as the audience" and is aimed at the 6-10 year age group.

It stars Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter) who plays one of the ‘grown-ups’, and the number one prime suspect.

She said of the project: “I really responded to the fact that it was a kids’ film for children. The script has the voice of a child coming through, and I remember often on family holidays wandering around, finding things to do, the crazy things that entertain children, and the imaginations that they have."

The BFI London Film Festival is Britain’s leading film event and one of the world’s best film festivals.

WKNN? will be screened as part of its Family strand at the Haymarket Cinema in London on Saturday, October 10.

WKNN? is written and directed by Tim Clague and Danny Stack and co-produced by Jan Caston.

Tim Clague, a BAFTA-nominated writer and award-winning director, said they are delighted to have been chosen by the BFI.

He said:“This is an exciting premiere for our film. We wanted to bring back British films for British kids.

"Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg? is a contemporary story for today’s children, but it will remind mums and dads of the kind of films they watched as youngsters and hopefully get kids off their tablets and phones and encourage them to have an adventure.

“It’s not been produced by the Hollywood machine, it has been crowd funded by the British public and made as a real passion project – it epitomises our filmmaking heritage.”

TV scriptwriter Danny Stack said: “While the recently confirmed tax breaks are aimed at attracting blockbuster productions to the UK, the British film industry is more than just Hollywood glitz. Budget movie-making is the lifeblood of the industry.

"WKNN? is unique as an indie film but also taps into quintessential British family values that has children at its heart. We’ve been receiving rave reviews from our test audiences, which is really gratifying. We’ve always said it’s a kids’ film, for kids, with kids in the lead roles.

“We were also keen to make the most out of our Dorset location and local filmmaking community. The majority of the cast and crew are from the area so we’re showcasing what Dorset has to offer in front of, and behind, the camera.”

WKNN? can be pre-ordered through the film’s website and the production team are currently in negotiations for a distribution deal.

A book which sets up the film and tells the story of how the children meet will shortly be published on Amazon.
