A WEST Dorset winery has teamed up with the Jurassic Coast Trust to raise money for the charity.

The Furleigh Estate in Salway Ash will donate ten pence from every bottle of their 'Tyrannosaurus Red' towards the charity's education and conservation projects.

The Jurassic Coast Trust works with partners to support a diverse range of education, conservation, arts, and science projects along the length of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

The funds raised from the partnership will go towards projects including the Charmouth and Lyme Regis fossil warden, equipment for the Great Dorset Beach Clean and training days for local school teachers.

Guy Kerr from the Jurassic Coast Trust is delighted to have the winery on board.

He said: “It is fantastic to have the support of Furleigh Estate.

"Through these collaborations with prominent local businesses, we can grow and consolidate our Jurassic Coast community and raise much-needed funds to safeguard our World Heritage Site for future generations.”

To celebrate the new partnership, Furleigh Estate are holding an 'ammonites and wine' evening on Saturday, August 29.

The event will feature a tour of the winery from owner Rebecca Hansford, an entertaining talk from Jurassic Coast team leader Sam Rose and a two-course meal accompanied by a selection of Furleigh Estate wines.

Rebecca is pleased to be giving something back, after enjoying the Jurassic Coast while growing up.

“After childhoods spent playing on the Jurassic Coast, we at Furleigh Estate thought it would be great to give something back to the Jurassic Coast Trust for future generations - now that our buckets and spades have long since been put away," she said.

"In addition Furleigh Estate wines are grown and made less than five miles from the sea and our links with the coastline go back a long way.”

The trust aims to help people understand and enjoy the World Heritage Site. It raises money through different levels of support including large and small businesses, individuals, project sponsors, and the sale of publications.
