A TWO-CAR collision has blocked the A35 near Dorchester.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of the crash, which involved two cars on the A35 in Winterbourne Steepleton.

The road is blocked between the junction for the B3159 and the Longland's Lane junction.

It is believed one car has overturned in the collision.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We recevied at 2.23pm to a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A35 in Winterbourne Steepleton.

"There was one patient with neck pain and we are still at the scene at the moment.

"Dorset Fire and Rescue Service have been informed, and police are en route.

"One person has been taken to Dorset County Hospital, but it is unclear how serious the injuries are."

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called to the incident at 2.26pm, to a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

"The collision involved a blue Toyota Aygo, registered to a west Sussex man, and a green Land Rover Defender, registered to a woman from Bridport.

"The road has been closed in both directions.

"Dorset Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident, and they had to cut one person out of a car who was trapped."

There is queuing traffic in both directions following the crash, with police closing the road in both directions.
