NEVER mind Celtic versus Rangers, Manchester United against Manchester City or the Terras versus the Magpies.
Members of Came Down and Weymouth golf clubs locked horns over both courses to play for the Whitcombe Trophy.
Also playing for a new trophy, the Weydown Cup, an individual event over the two courses, members of both clubs enjoyed reasonable weather to complete a very successful tournament.
After the first round, played at Weymouth, the clubs were tied on 346 points each, so there was all to play for when they contested the second round at Came Down.
In the end it was Came Down who emerged as the winners of the Whitcombe Trophy.
They made the most of home advantage to triumph by a scoreline of 724-688.
In the individual event for the inaugural Weydown Cup, Came Down’s Stuart Chainey won with 76 points, narrowly beating Zak Killian, also of Came Down, with 75, followed by Weymouth’s Pat George, who scored 74.
