BOHO BEARS 42 FITNESS WORLD 25

FITNESS started the game promisingly with some key interceptions from Nicola Marsh and Becky Cousens.

However, Boho kept getting the ball into the circle and made it count by scoring multiple goals.

At the start of the second quarter, Fitness seemed to struggle to find the hoop and Boho took full advantage with Annie Usher working the circle well and scoring some impressive goals.

Fitness did not lose motivation, working hard to close the gap.

Some tactical changes saw Laura Gardner introduced at goal-shooter, and the change paid dividends.

But Boho’s consistency shone through and they ran out 42-25 winners.

BELLE CONSTRUCTION 44 AUTOBITZ 26

BOTH teams were slightly erratic in the first quarter with a mixture of accurate court play and unforced errors.

Belle shooters Kelly Browne and Jazz Franklin worked hard against staunch defending from Autobitz’s Clare Robertson and Kirsty Hill to finish the opening period just one goal ahead.

After an effective team talk, Belle came out flying into the second quarter, scoring 11 goals before Autobitz had a chance to respond.

Despite a tough quarter for Autobitz, wing-defence Coralie Russell made several interceptions, disrupting Belle’s flow and giving Autobitz some much-needed possession.

Zoe Talby, Belle’s goal-defence, defended brilliantly, stopping any passes from getting into the circle.

Autobitz trailed 30-16 going into the final quarter but, despite a concerted effort, they couldn’t stem Belle’s flow.

Becky Hallett, Autobitz’s goal-attack, played well in and out of the circle, though she did struggle to get opportunities to shoot.

Belle finished with a deserving lead of 18.

Division One

CRESTA LEISURE 17 JD WETHERSPOONS 35

JD centre Sarah Garman set up her shooters for some early goals, despite though she did having to contend with solid defending from Cresta’s Jayne Guppy and Lucy Astrid.

JD led 9-4 at the end of the first quarter as they showed their experience as a team with all attacking players reading each other well.

Cresta’s Ali Spearing stood out for her team in defence and attack, but JD had established a lead of 12 by the end of the second quarter.

The Cresta defence limited JD’s shooting opportunities and only conceded five goals in the third period.

However, the final quarter saw a role reversal as Cresta only scored four to JD’s nine.

Cresta wing-attack Olivia May found space throughout the court, but JD worked hard for the victory.

Division Two

NEW IMAGE 31 STIKA 30

DESPITE a strong start by both teams, and some great interceptions, the first quarter ended level.

Some tactical changes at the beginning of the second saw New Image step up a gear and their confidence grew with some great goals by Tricia Burton.

Determined not to give up, Stika came back in the third quarter with a vengeance to level the game.

Some more changes in the New Image line-up saw them get stronger and Lauren Jones was at the fore as they edged home by one point.
