EMERGENCY SERVICES were called to rescue a man who became stuck in mud in West Bay harbour.
A spokesman for West Bay coastguard said they were called to the incident just after 1pm on Sunday.
They said: "Six rescue officers from the West Bay team were tasked to the incident, as well as the Mud Rescue Team from Lyme Regis coastguard.
"In addition, firefighters from Bridport were also tasked to attend but on arrival at the scene, it was found that the man had been extracted from the mud, aided by one of the harbour assistants using a flat bottomed tender."
West Bay coastguard also issued advice for anyone who may be involved in similar incidents.
They said: "If you become stuck in the mud try to spread your weight as much as possible, avoid moving and stay as calm as you can.
"If you have access to a mobile phone then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard who will task a specially trained Mud Rescue Team to you as quickly as possible.
"Discourage others from attempting to rescue you, since without the proper equipment they could become stuck in the mud as well."
