POLICE have released an e-fit image of a suspect after a woman was attacked by a man near Lyme Regis.

Officers are appealing for information after a 33-year-old woman was assaulted in her car at just after 8pm on Tuesday March 10 near Fernhill.

The victim was driving from Lyme Regis on the A3052 heading to Charmouth. On approaching Fernhill, she turned left from Charmouth Road and onto an unlit country lane heading toward Penn Cross.

The man was stood in the middle of the road. Concerned for his welfare, the victim slowed down and unwound her window. Without warning, he reached into the car and grabbed her face. The victim, who sustained scratches to her face, pushed him away and drove off.

The offender is described as white, of slim build, in his twenties, clean shaven with short blond hair. He was wearing a black hooded top and he had a broad local accent.

He was not known to the victim.

Police Community Support Officer Luke White, of Bridport Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We now have an e-fit image of the suspect available for distribution.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who thinks they may know who this man is to contact Dorset Police, in confidence, on 101.”

No arrests have been made.
