A MASSIVE police hunt was triggered after a youth appeared to have been bundled into a car on a Glasgow street in daylight.

But today it was revealed the kidnapping' was nothing more than horseplay.

The youth was seen being pushed into a red three-door hatchback in Kennishead by up to five men.

After dragging him into the car about 4.10pm yesterday in Boydstone Road, near Kennishead Road, the suspects sped off towards Thornliebank.

The victim' had been described as about 17 and wearing a white hooded top with red horizontal stripes.

Police initially treated the incident as an abduction and launched a full-scale hunt for the car and its occupants.

Hours after the incident police issued a statement expressing their "growing concern" for the alleged victim and said they had been unable to trace the teenager.

However, a police spokeswoman today revealed the incident was misinterpreted by a witness.

She said: "We received a report of a young man having been forced into a red car in Boydstone Road, Kennishead. It has now been established a number of youths were involved in horseplay.

"They have been identified and interviewed and we are satisfied no crime has been committed."

She added: "Police would encourage members of the public to continue to report any suspicious activity."
