A WOMAN was killed and two people suffered life-changing injuries following a collision on the Dorset-Devon border.

The two-car crash, between a silver Toyota Prius and a blue Peugeot, happened on the A35 at Greenway Head near Raymond’s Hill close to Lyme Regis shortly after 2.30pm.

One 59-year-old woman, a front-seat passenger in the Prius from the Lincolnshire area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two drivers, one 28-year-old woman from Lyme Regis and a 63-year-old man from Lincolnshire, were both airlifted to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and Derriford Hospital in Plymouth respectively.

The 28-year-old woman from Lyme Regis was driving the Peugeot, and the man was driving the Prius.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said both casualties suffered "life-changing" injuries in the collision.

Dorset Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

The road was closed in both directions between Bridport and Axminster for several hours yesterday, and the crash also caused major delays for commuters as First Dorset suspended some bus services.

Any witnesses to the crash are being urged to contact PC Gareth Blaken from Weymouth Traffic Police on 101 quoting the incident number 250:15.
