LAND Registry won their game in hand to leapfrog rivals Wyke A and move to the top of Division One.

Opponents Colliton X were only able to field two players on the night, which made the final score of 24-16 a respectable one on their part.

All seven matches went to at least four sets and three of those went the whole distance.

Neil Hardisty won both his for Land Registry but Raj Lehal beat Steve Jackson and Andy Millar, who also lost to Andy Crouch, to show Colliton’s fighting spirit.

Colliton also took the doubles to ensure they finished the evening on a high.

Gil Roberts and Miranda Edwardes both scored nine points in Shipton Gorge A’s win over Portland’s Red Triangle.

Andy Mitchell and Mick Spracklen defeated Terry Whitworth to give Triangle a chance, but a strong finish from all three Shipton players, along with the closing doubles, sealed a 26-14 vic- tory.

A full nine-point haul in the singles for Richard Willshere was not enough to stop Pilgrims A from suffering defeat again as they lost 21-16.

The two Budmouth teams continue to dominate in Division Two.

The table-topping B team beat Preston B 30-5, with Josh Harman claiming four of the latter’s five points.

Budmouth C hit the first per- fect score of the season in the division when beating Colliton C 30-0.

Pete Anderson led Springfield A to a 21-18 win over Preston A.

Roger Lovell and Eddie Chapman got Preston off to a winning start, both scoring five-set wins over Steve Rook and Steve Rockett respectively before Anderson got Springfield up and running by beating Simon Green in straight sets.

Matches were shared after that but it was Anderson’s win over Chapman that sealed it for Springfield.

All Saints cut Wyke D’s lead at the top of Division Three to just two points after a 29-6 defeat of Wyke C.

Roy Sharp was the only one who could take any points off the youngsters, including in the doubles when teaming up with John Southway.

Wyke D beat Dorset Youth B 26-10 to retain top spot.

Tom Lane got Youth B off to a great start in beating Ian South in four sets, but despite winning his other two singles matches in five sets, it wasn’t enough and Wyke ran out comfortable winners.

In the clash of the Budmouth teams, it was the third-placed D team who came out on top 30-8.

Tom Lydford came in as a substitute for Eddie Knell and won all three matches, including a classic five-setter against April Heasman.

Will Jolliffe also kept up his impressive 100 per cent record.

John Newman dropped a set in two of his matches against John Clarke and Liam Lewis, but Shipton Gorge C still ran out 30-2 winners over Steps.

The match of the week was between Preston D and Pilgrims B.

This was a real battle with Preston D taking a commanding lead, winning four matches on the trot after Stan Smith had lost the opener to Brian Hawker.

Pilgrims then fought back with three wins on the spin for Hawker, Barry Thomas and Hawker again before Malcolm Smith beat Richard Ellerby in the final singles match.

This left the tie poised at 19-16 in Preston’s favour.

Hawker and Thomas won the opening set of the doubles, which they needed to win 3-0 to claim a draw, but Malcolm Smith and Dick Cottage took them to five sets to leave Preston 21-19 vic- tors.
