FIREFIGHTERS have issued safety advice after extinguishing a chimney fire in Bridport.
The incident happened at a property in Hardy Road last night at around 7.40pm.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service had been alerted by someone inside the property.
Retained firefighters from Bridport attended the incident and used a chimney kit from the hearth to extinguish the fire.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service suggests people should keep chimneys and flues well maintained by having them swept regularly.
The service also advises people to ensure embers are properly put out before they go to bed, suggesting a fire guard should be used to protect against flying sparks.
