POLICE have urged drivers to slow down this morning after a lorry broke down on the A35 in foggy conditions.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said they were called at just after 8am to a broken down HGV on the A35.
The lorry is blocking the East-bound side of the dual carriageway between Askerswell and Bridport.
Police are still on the scene directing traffic and a recovery truck has been called to collect to the lorry.
Officers said conditions on the road are 'treacherous' as visibility is down to just 50m, but some drivers are not slowing down, and others are not using their headlights at all.
A message on the Bridport and Lyme Regis safer neighborhood team's Facebook page reads: "A35 Bridport to Dorchester - officers dealing with broken down lorry in fog, East-bound dual carriageway. SLOW DOWN."
A tweet from the Bridport Police SNT Twitter page also reads:
#A35 #Bridport #Askerswell #Dorchester treacherous driving - please slow down visibility only 50m
