LYME REGIS: Potential occupiers of proposed new homes have been told they must register with Dorset Home Choice to stand any chance of being considered.

Lyme Regis Community Land Trust (CLT) held a drop-in session at Woodmead Halls last week to discuss plans to provide 15 affordable homes at land on Timber Hill. The CLT reassured residents last month that those with a connection to Lyme Regis will be given priority of being allocated the new rental houses and flats.

Speaking after the drop-in session, chairman of the CLT Denis Yell said: "The CLT emphasised to visitors that to be considered for these homes, prospective applicants must first be registered with Dorset Home Choice (DHC).

"The CLT will be available to help with drafting and submitting the applications to DHC if required."

An outline planning application has been submitted to West Dorset District Council by Yarlington Housing Association, with a decision expected to be made by planners next month.

If approval is granted, the CLT and Yarlington will need to submit detailed proposals to planners before the project can go ahead.

"In due course, the CLT and Yarlington will be responsible for the allocation of these homes and only people with connections to Lyme Regis who are already registered with Dorset Home Choice will be considered" said Mr Yell.

"At least one further public meeting will be held to review the final design and the allocations policy and process."
