RINGWOOD Motocross Club enters 2015 with a 17-round championship season to look forward to, including some superb venues to ensure the new campaign is better than ever.

This will be the club’s fourth consecutive season under the MC Federation (MCF) banner, which over the past three years has seen the Ringwood series develop into one of the association’s largest and most hard working clubs.

Poole’s Future Racing UK, one of Dorset’s leading motocross companies, hooked up with the Ringwood club for the launch of the 2014 FRUK Auto 50cc & Youth Challenge, with the automatic 50cc, 65cc, small wheel 85cc and big wheel 85cc categories featuring, as well as the rookies’ class.

Limited to Ringwood members within the MCF, all the competitors were awarded trophies, medals and prizes throughout the mini six-round series regardless of their final position.

Dorchester’s Finly Abbott was also crowned 2014 Best of British auto 50cc champion, another title he picked up racing for the Ringwood club.

British Championship hero Lewis Trickett from Poole was recently on hand to present the five Ringwood FRUK youth champions with their personalized printed race kit and 2015 graphics set.

The passion for quality grassroots racing continues this year when the gates drop for the first FRUK Youth Challenge round, to be held on Sunday, February 22 at the Rogershill Raceway.

Up for grabs will be a top quality BMX bike to be awarded to the overall winner of the rookies’ class.

Meanwhile, talented youngster Oscar Murray’s huge passion for motocross since joining his local club two years ago has helped the 10-year-old win trophies galore.

The Lytchett youngster’s first motorcycle was a KTM 50cc automatic machine, which sent him off into his first ever race event aged eight.

In the last two seasons, a much more powerful KTM 65cc with gears allowed Murray to compete alongside older children in the junior class of the FRUK Youth Challenge Series hosted by the Ringwood club.

With a wide membership spread across the region, the speedster was up against some top competitors in a mini series over six rounds.

He was eventually crowned the overall winner for 2014, beating around 30 others to the championship title.

Sam Murray, Oscar’s dad , added: “The family element in the sport is second to none.

“We have made so many new friends and what Oscar achieves on the race track is a bonus.”
