THE churches in Charmouth obviously become more of a focal point at this time of year.
Today, Thursday, there is a candlelight carol service from 7pm at United Reform Church, while the same venue will be holding the traditional Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, at 11.30pm.
Meanwhile St Andrew’s Church will be celebrating on Christmas Eve with the always popular crib service at 3pm and Eucharist at 11pm the same night.
Over the last year, the Charmouth and Bridport Rock and Pop Choir have built up a bit of a reputation, and this Saturday you have the chance to see if they really are that good!
Tickets are still available from the Estate Agents or by telephoning 01297 561625 for the concert at St Andrew’s Community Hall, which starts at 7.30.
Christmas morning is always a special time in Charmouth with the annual Christmas Day Fancy Dress swim.
Remember to get there early if you want to watch or take part – 10.30am is the recommended time, with the swimmers taking to the water at 11am prompt.
There are plans for a get-together on the beach to get your New Year’s Eve celebrations off to a good start. Starting around 5.30pm, it is the perfect opportunity to meet up with friends and neighbours on the best beach in Dorset over a glass of mulled cider and enjoy a few fireworks at around 6.30pm, before moving on to your Old Year’s Night party.
Many thanks to everyone that has contributed to and read this little slice of nonsense over the last year. Have a great Christmas and New Year – don’t forget to tell me of any interesting gossip! – and I will see you all, same time, same place in January, 2015.
