DORCHESTER school pupils put their jump shots and free-throws to the test when Years 3 and 4 came together to compete in two tournaments.
St Osmund’s Middle School and Puddletown Middle School were the hosts for the action-packed competitions.
While taking part was the primary goal, it was Cerne Abbas who walked away from St Osmund’s as rightful champions, and Broadmayne fought off some tough competition to be last team standing in Puddletown.
Cameron Wilson was among several helpful Year 7 and 8 students who mentored the games and inspired the children.
Speaking afterwards, Levi Dailey, Dorchester Area Schools Partnership (DASP) sports co-ordinator, lauded the events and those who took part.
He said: “Basketball is a very technical game to play and the boys and girls playing in the tournament simply blew my mind.
“The level of skills being performed to achieve victory against the other teams was mesmerising.
“This competition has been running for four years now and the pupils simply keep getting better and better.”
