Division Two

BAY FENCING & LANDSCAPING 20 NEW IMAGE 16

A TIGHT affair saw Bay Fencing edge to victory over New Image in this top-of-the-table clash.

Occupying both second and third position in the division, it was no surprise that the game was played at an intense tempo from the first whistle.

It was New Images’ fast and precise handling which gave them the initiative.

Lauren Jones and Sam Shewbridge demonstrated cohesion and accuracy with their shooting, giving their side a first-quarter lead.

A further four goals apiece in the second quarter brought the score to 13-7 at half-time.

Leaking goals at the back was contributing to Bay’s downfall, but Corinne March and Emily Park did not take long in shoring things up.

Additional good work by wing-attack Charlotte Newman and centre Hayley Stanton saw them gradually claw the score back in their favour.

An injury to prolific forward Shewbridge gave Bay a numerical advantage which they made the most of.

CAFÉ OASIS B 14 ROYAL EXCHANGE 51

ROYAL Exchange capped off a five-star show with a comprehensive win over Café Oasis B.

Both Sam Samuels and Annabel Bartlett were prolific early on as Exchange showed no mercy from the first whistle.

The best efforts of Oasis defenders Ella Guant and Chloe Calton did little to prevent the eventual victors going into the interval with a 19-goal lead.

Exchange centre Nicola Spry dictated play well and made strong interceptions, while goal-shooter Catherine Simmons was clinical in front of the net.

Merryn Harvey was one of a number of Oasis players who work hard to reduce the deficit, but 51-14 it finished.

BENNETTS 32 WEYMOUTH JNC 20

AN UNSETTLED Weymouth side marginally lost out to height and composure as Bennetts proved too good.

Both Emily Conning and Jodie Howell ensured the Juniors got off to a positive start, but defenders Emma Stoney and Lyndsey Pollard were worthy opponents.

A two-goal lead after the first quarter came as a result of some key interceptions.

While Bennetts became lacklustre and sloppy in possession, Juniors were victim to several injuries and finished the second half 18-9 down.

The chopping and changing did not end there.

Two fresh faces were introduced in the third quarter, making the team all but unrecognisable from that which started.

As the goals continued to flow, the Juniors were reduced to unsuccessful shots from range and Bennetts ended the match with a strong lead.
