More than 4,000 fixed penalty notices were issued for speeding across DT postcodes last year, new figures reveal.

Figures released today by road safety charity Brake reveal a breakdown of the worst areas for driving offences by postcode as it launches its Road Safety Week.

The DT11 area around Blandford was the worst within the DT postcodes for careless driving with eight offences.

Across the whole of the Dorset area, 17,477 fixed penalty notices were issued for speeding and 151 for careless driving, which became a fixed penalty offence in August 2013.

In total across the DT postcodes there were 42 incidents of careless driving and 4,266 of speeding in 2013.

In the BH postcode area in the east of the country, Christchurch came fifth in the national top ten of postcodes where drivers who have received fixed penalties for speeding offences in 2013 reside - there were 1,496 speeding offences.
