POLICE are hunting thieves who broke into the Lyme Regis Tourist Information Centre and stole a safe.

Overnight between Thursday evening and Friday morning officers with Bridport , Beaminster and Lyme Regis Safer Neighbourhood Teams said that the TIC in Lyme Regis was broken into.

A Spokesman for the SNT said: “A ground floor window was forced and the safe stolen. The safe was located on the beach at the end of the new sea defence wall to the east of Lyme Regis.

"If anyone saw any vehicles driving along the sea wall last night or saw anything suspicious around the area of Church Street or Cobb Gate then get in touch.”

Police have said a small quantity of cash was stolen from the safe with a number of disabled parking badges and parking permits left on the beach.
