A DORSET beauty queen and fundraiser is undertaking a daring charity abseil on Portland.

Danni de-Bear will be taking an 85ft plunge in the stunt at Sharbutts Quarry on Saturday.

Her mum Tina has also signed up, and Danni’s stepdad will also be facing his own challenge in the family’s fundraising efforts as he has agreed to have his legs waxed.

The events are all aiming to raise money for the Rainbow Child Fund, which helps children around the world.

It is the official charity of Face of the Globe beauty pageant. Danni won the Miss title at the recent London heat of the competition.

Tina said: “I’ve joined Danni in quite a few of her fundraising feats before. She’s had me kayaking, walking and all sorts, but usually I like to keep my feet on the ground unless I’m flying to somewhere hot and sunny. This is something that will be a real challenge to me.” She added: We have room for up to 20 people to do this abseil and there’s about six taking part so far. It would be great if anyone wants to get involved. It’s certainly not something you get the chance to do every day.”

Participants would have to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship.

Danni, 21, of Piddlehinton, started taking part in beauty pageants aged 17 after being bullied in her school years.

She has raised money for a number of local and national organisations since then, including the Weymouth Lifeboat and Julia’s House, and said her success has helped boost her confidence.
