Boho Bears 37 Belle Construction 25

AN inter-club fixture saw the Arethusans’ A and B teams both hungry for a win.

After conceding the first few goals of the match, Boho came back strongly to take a narrow lead at the end of the first quarter.

Strong passes into the shooters from Boho centre Laura Bucke ensured her side kept their advantage, however, tight defending from Carly Lawes saw Belle stay within two goals by the half-time whistle.

Belle shooters Jasmine Franklin and Louise Bugler worked well as a pair, with the former using her height effectively.

Boho worked harder as the game progressed and, with fantastic shooting from Rebecca Kimber, they extended their lead.

With a win still in sight, Belle displayed some excellent centre-court play but were unable to break through the Boho defence.

Cresta Leisure 19 Fitness World Weymouth 29

AN even start to the match saw both teams competing well in defence and attack.

Cresta goal-defence Jayne Guppy provided a useful back-up for the attack while also making key interceptions.

Even with Fitness’ wing-defence and goal-defence, Kat King and Becky Cousens, making impressive steals, Cresta pulled away to lead 10-7 at the halfway stage.

The second half saw a role reversal with Fitness flying out the blocks to take control.

Fitness wing-attack Kirsty Winning took every opportunity to get the ball into the shooters and they held on to their lead until the final whistle.

Waterside 61 Lugger Inn 24

WHILE Waterside dominated play from the start, Lugger succeeded in keeping the gap a small one in the first half.

Lugger defenders Jess Quickfall and Rebecca Chance picked up on Waterside’s tactics to stop some of their shooting opportunities.

Waterside wing-attack Jan Lawes began the second quarter with some impressive interceptions, resulting in a succession of goals.

Her side’s play became slicker while Lugger struggled and trailed 25-12 midway through the contest.

Lugger made a change at goal-keeper with Bobbie Bosworth coming on, though Waterside remained dominant with shooters Jen Emslie and Susan Lee taking them into a 30-goal lead ahead of the final quarter.

Goal-attack Rachel Scarff added to Lugger’s tally, however, Waterside were clear at the end.

Wyke Smugglers 22 Autobitz 66

AUTOBITZ went into an early lead but Wyke defenders Vicky Sharpe and Katherine Rupp worked hard to keep the pressure on the opposition attack.

Even with Wyke’s determination, Autobitz kept extending their advantage and accumulated a 22-goal lead by the end of the first half.

Strong passing from all players meant that the game had very few interceptions and turnovers.

Wyke goal-attack Tracy Moore showed her experience and was seemingly able to shoot from anywhere in the circle.

Autobitz centre Kirsty Hill and shooters Clare Taylor and Karen Hall demonstrated an excellent understanding throughout the match and the final score really did reflect the encounter.
