West Bay Community Forum is holding an open meeting on Thursday, October 2 at 7.30pm in the Salt House.

Secretary Chris Cherry said the forum had been busy during the summer following up complaints raised by members and the public.

He said: “The inflatable slide which appeared in three locations along the beach during the summer proved contentious.

“We have been on to West Dorset District Council about this and they have promised to have a proper meeting to discuss.

“Requests have been made to the organisers of West Bay Day for them to disclose the accounts for the day. Rather than a disclosure now they are suggesting we wait till the end of the financial year and find the result in the district council’s annual accounts.

“The ‘pop up car park’ in West Bay Road has provided even more steam.

“Somehow it’s became an overflow car park.

“Retrospective planning permission has been applied for the space to be made available for overflow parking next year – and one would presume ad infinitum.

“The crossing from the church to the shops got slightly taken out of our hands when suddenly the council appeared with a set of new ideas which they wanted to rush through.

“Luckily, help was at hand, all our suggestions were sent though for consideration and a new set of drawings is in the pipeline, hopefully regardless of those who think the forum should not be involved, we will be.”
