Skills Training Bridport has joined forces with Weymouth College and local schools to provide an opportunity for West Dorset businesses.

Local employers have been invited to the event, Building Better Businesses through Apprenticeships, which will take place at the Bridport Arts Centre on October 1 between 10am and 11.30am.

Throughout the summer representatives from both Skills Training Bridport and Weymouth College conducted a series of street tours in Bridport. During those tours they met with and heard from local business people, who spoke candidly about the threats facing employers and the challenges of business development.

On that information Skills Training Briport and Weymouth College have organised the Building Better Business event, which they believe offers a new opportunity for local businesses.

Andy Wallwork, head of business development at Weymouth College, said: “Businesses know they need new blood with new skills to ensure future success. They might have job opportunities, but only if they can find sufficiently well-skilled people to join them.

“Our event is designed to help to overcome those barriers that local employers have told us about, ensuring each business gets the right people in the right place at the right time with the right skills to do the job properly. Apprenticeships, we believe, can offer the real chance to recruit loyal members of staff and train them to meet future business needs.”
