IT always amazes me how many musical people there seem to be in the village, so when I saw the information about The Charmouth and Bridport Pop and Rock Choir I had to pass it on, writes Charmouth correspondent Neil Harvey.

I think Edward Jacobs has been running the choir for more than a year now, but the fact that he is running some free ‘taster’ sessions may be the ideal opportunity to see if this is the right musical experience for you.

Sessions take place on a Monday evening at Charmouth School, and cover a wide variety of songs and styles.

There is a fundraising event for St Andrew’s Community Hall coming up on November 1 which is sure to be a sell-out.

Tickets for the James Bond-themed fun casino night include ‘fun money’ with which to buy casino chips and a finger buffet. They are available at £12.50 each from The Estate Agents or by contacting Keith Waterson on 07971 950074 – if you are interested don’t leave it too late.

Don’t forget that this Saturday The George is hosting the harvest auction, raising money for the Charmouth Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch Fund.

The fun starts at 9pm.

While you are there, why not pick up one of the pub’s charity calendars for just £6 – you won’t believe it until you see it.

And finally, a must for anyone interested in the history of Charmouth, The Pavey Group will be holding its annual general meeting on Wednesday in The Elms, starting at 7pm.
